Kathi & Joel’s Lightner Museum St. Augustine wedding
Whenever Amalie meets with a couple that I can’t meet with, and I ask her how it goes, if they click she always says, “oh, these guys are awesome and laid back and I think you’ll really like them.” And she hasn’t been wrong yet. But when she came back and told me about Kathi and Joel, she added, oh and they love Frank Turner. And, since he happens to be one of my favorite musicians, I was very excited to meet these guys. We traveled up to St. Augustine, one of our favorite cities, to do their engagement shoot and we really hit it off. They were super nice, very interested in us, beyond what we do for a living, and were willing to listen to me babble about music for a while. Needless to say we really anticipated their wedding.
We traveled back up to St. Augustine for their big day. The weather cooperated with us, the festival of lights was about to kick off and Kathi and Joel welcomed us with open arms. The excitement, the nerves, and all the work that went into the planning all culminated into the perfect moment when Joel first turned around to see his beautiful bride. We walked the streets, took pictures and I think that Joel and Kathi, who were so wrapped up in each other, may have forgotten that Amalie and I were even there a few times.
Then came the ceremony and any nerves that Amalie and I may have had about shooting a ceremony after dark were soon put to rest when we saw the vision that these two had. It was nothing short of spectacular, on a bridge, surrounded by hundreds of soft white lights. I am truly proud and pleased that they chose us to document this day. This will always have a special place in our hearts. Plus they played Tom Petty for their first dance, I mean, it doesn’t get to much cooler than that.
Here’s to Kathi and Joel, may St. Augustine always welcome you with open arms, they way that you welcomed us.
xoxo- Amalie and Jeff
