Hey you you

I’m telling you to STOP,  stop comparing what you do and who you are to someone else. Stop looking at how many fans the have on Facebook, how many followers they have on Instagram, how many networking events they are invited to, how many times they book a wedding at a certain venue, with a certain planner etc. JUST STOP IT!

It’s a killer of joy, of progress of your beautiful unique self. Once that insecurity takes hold it is a downward spiral that ends in jealousy, anger and resentment and we all know that’s no fun.

We all get caught up in it I’m just as guilty as the next person. I have worked my tail off to get where I am, to be doing what I do and comparing myself only steals that joy of growing and evolving, that accomplishment in my business and artistry. It is sad, sad that we do this to ourselves and sad we can’t enjoy what pure awesomeness we are accomplishing at this moment. But, when that joy-sucker gets started I turn it off by looking back at how much I’ve accomplished as an artist and business owner in the past 3 1/2 years. Looking back over my past work  I can see that I have made huge leaps and have grown so much. And that’s worth a big high five, a pat on the back and maybe a glass of wine too!

So let’s stop all this nonsense and instead of comparing ourselves to others let’s let go of the thoughts that you don’t measure up, because guess what ….dammit you do!!
Hey you you’re rad and don’t you forget it!

Mastering the hashtag with an Instagram shortcutPhotographer tip for instagram

Had such an amazing morning hosting our Tuesdays Together Orlando. Today our topic was on all things Instagram. We talked tips, ways to save time, how to style a image and to how to curate your feed to show off the best of your brand.

Our  favorite tip is a HUGE time saving shortcut for us and it actually is a shortcut on your phone!
On my iPhone I make keyboard shortcuts for our most often use hashtags which we have for our business, behind the scenes as well as vendors and venues that we work with frequently.
So here is the how to….
From your iPhone go to your settings go to GENERAL and select KEYBOARDInstagram tips for wedding photographersFrom there select SHORTCUTS, this is where you can make up your very own shortcuts to save you a ton of time.  For example when we shoot at Cypress Grove Estate House we use the shortcut CG, this auto populates all of our Cypress Grove hashtags that we have made specifically for when we photograph weddings or shoots there. We have also made some for our business, behind the scenes and for when we travel. Think of everything you would regularly hashtag and turn it into a shortcut, trust us it is life changing:) Instagram tips for photographers

We hope this top tip help you save a bit of time. We would love to hear any tips that you might have as well.
 Happy hashtagging!!

Cypress Grove Estate House | RW Events | Southern bridal tea party

When you are asked by the gals at RW Events to do a shoot you jump at the chance. I always love working with them and there ever so creative designs. They put together a few different shoots for they look book every year and this year they did a tea party at the Cypress Grove Estate House, quite possibly my favorite venue ever!

Well I showed up for the shoot with severe lightening and storms,  needless to say the entire shoot got moved inside. Well these ladies didn’t let a crazy storm get in the way of putting together so much prettiness. Enjoy a few of my favorite styling detail images from the shoot.

Trish & Jack’s Alfond Inn elopement ceremony

Trish is the sister of one of my best friends since 8th grade, don’t add up the years please, lol. Lets just say we have known each other a really long time!  I haven’t talked to Trish in a while, life got busy, but I was thrilled when I heard from her. Trish emailed me about 2 months ago and told me about the most amazing man Jack that she met and has been dating for the past year and a half. Jack is living in NYC and he and Trish had been engaged for a few months and they were to tie the knot and have Trish and her super sweet son Tyler {he walked her down the aisle} join him the big city!

Trish and Jack invited 25 of their closest fiends and family member and had a sweet ceremony at the Alfond Inn in Winter Park, it was just perfect. I am so thankful I got to be a part of such a special day with these two sweets! Cheers to many amazing years together and adventures in the city.
